Renowned Aerobatic Pilot Rob Holland Dies in Langley Air Force Base Crash​

Renowned aerobatic pilot Rob Holland died on April 24, 2025, when his experimental MX Aircraft MXS crashed on approach at Joint Base Langley-Eustis in Hampton, Virginia. Just before lunch, Rob Holland was preparing for the next Air Power Over Hampton Roads air display set for the weekend.

Rob Holland, celebrated for his innovative maneuvers and multiple national and international aerobatic championships, was the aircraft’s sole occupant. The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has initiated an investigation into the crash.

Col. Matthew Altman, commander at Joint Base Langley-Eustis, expressed condolences, stating, “Today we lost a friend of our Air Force family.” ​
